It all started when…

Our “Humble Genius” and master distiller Lee W. Sassen, a contractor by trade for over 30 years, door shop owner, and workaholic encountered a life altering accident which left him wheelchair bound. With no hobbies and bored he decided to try his hand at distilling.

Encouraged by and aided by a “Tired Farmer”, an incredibly talented “Artisan”, as well as his wife Michelle, dubbed “The Spice Perfecter” and son Tyler “The Spirit Peddler”, the journey began.

Rapscallion Spirits Co. became a family owned and operated endeavor.  A unique and unexpected gem hidden in Mendocino County.  Supplying innovative spirits and exciting adventures. We create unusual spirits in uncommon ways using unconventional ingredients that are not typically used in this way.

We create unique, Handcrafted, premium spirits inspired by the inner rapscallion in each of us. great-tasting spirits without regard to what category the  industry says they fit into.   We choose not to follow the rules so we can further improve the quality, taste, and your experience. Always experimenting while finding new ways to distill and innovate with taste and flavor We make a special effort to grow with our creativity and innovation, which in our opinion is what creates the great taste and unique experiences that you, our consumer wants. You will not find our spirits in very many stores. Why? Because we are a small batch, high-quality, boutique experience.
